EVALUATION OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL CARE SERVICE BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT IN COMMUNITY PHARMACIES IN POLAND

In response to the backlog in the field of patient prophylaxis in Poland, the Faculty of Medicine. Collegium Medicum of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, together with Cosmedica’s partner pharmacies, have launched a pioneer and innovative research project in the field of blood pressure measurement in community pharmacies in Poland. The project titled: „Blood pressure measurement and basic diagnostic screening tests (point of care) in a generally accessible pharmacy”, is a project prepared jointly with a team of experts from Poland and abroad. Due to the unquestionable need to integrate the doctors and pharmacists to improve the health of Polish patients, the project will involve not only employees of the Faculty of Medicine – doctors, but also a group of pharmacists selected for this purpose, trained by our experts. Prepared to measure blood pressure and basic diagnostics, based on a specially prepared methodology, pharmacists will conduct examinations in selected patients from risk groups. The results of the study will allow for a thorough validation of the tools, evaluation of the service, as well as setting standards for the process of its implementation in Poland. We believe that screening tests will help to diagnose and detect civilization diseases faster and thus support the overloaded health care system, which has been struggling with the COVID 19 pandemic for two years. The common wellbeing of the patient is the most important thing, and as the recent difficult times have shown, the pharmacy is the first place to support patients, which is why this cooperation between the patient, pharmacist and doctor is extremely important and gives the prospect of a better tomorrow.
